Hotels Near Miami Cruise Port: Shuttles, Breakfast, Parking

Picking among the hotels near the Miami cruise port is really a choice between three parts of town. The downtown bayfront sits right where Port Boulevard leaves Biscayne Boulevard for the port, so the ride is short. Brickell and Edgewater give you more restaurants for a slightly longer ride. The airport hotels in and around Miami Springs are roughly 7 to 10 miles west, but that’s where the hotel-run cruise shuttles, free breakfasts, and cheap parking are concentrated.

The part most lists get wrong is the “free shuttle and breakfast” promise. Going by each hotel’s own page in October 2026, most port shuttles now cost money, run once in the morning, or come only inside a package. One airport hotel still lists a free morning ride to the port with free hot breakfast, and one hotel at an address that older guides still recommend has dropped its free breakfast and charges for the port run. Here is how I’d choose, cluster by cluster, with the real costs.

The short version

The hotels closest to the Miami cruise port are on the downtown bayfront: The Elser Hotel on NE 5th Street (the street that feeds Port Boulevard), YVE Hotel Miami facing Bayfront Park, and InterContinental Miami, which IHG lists 0.89 mile from the port. From there it’s a short rideshare. If you want a free cruise shuttle with free breakfast, Comfort Suites Miami Airport North in Miami Springs lists a complimentary one-way shuttle to the port each morning (register at check-in, first come, first served), free hot breakfast, and extended parking at $12 a night plus a $2 nightly in-room safe fee, with a $15 per person ride back. Most other port shuttles are paid: Comfort Inn & Suites Downtown Brickell-Port of Miami charges $12 per person one way, and Clarion Inn & Suites Miami International Airport charges a $12 port shuttle fee, adds a mandatory $3.50 per room, per night fee for transportation, security and the in-room safe, and no longer includes free breakfast. At the port itself, Miami-Dade County lists long-term parking at $28 a day in Garages C, D, F and G and Surface Lot E and $35 a day at the MSC and Norwegian garages, while Royal Caribbean’s Garage A has separate pricing; the garages take cash or credit cards but not debit.

The hotels compared

I grouped these by how you’d actually get to the ship, because that decides more about your cruise morning than the room does. Every shuttle price, breakfast note, and parking rate below comes from the hotel’s own website or, where noted, from the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau’s guide to hotels near PortMiami.

Checked October 17, 2026 on each hotel’s official site, except the YVE and Hampton shuttle fares, which come from the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau’s July 2026 guide. The Aloft package runs for stays through December 1, 2026, and the Marriott package for stays through January 31, 2027. Nightly room rates move with sailing dates, so compare the total for your own dates on each hotel’s site. Shuttle rules and fees change often, so confirm with the hotel when you book.

Port Boulevard crosses to the island from Biscayne Boulevard at NE 5th and 6th streets, and the toll-free PortMiami Tunnel reaches it from Watson Island on the MacArthur Causeway and I-395. PortMiami directs passengers for Terminals AA, A, B, C and D to the tunnel and passengers for Terminals E, F, J and V to the bridge. The Elser Hotel, YVE Hotel Miami, and InterContinental Miami sit on the downtown bayfront. Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay is north in Edgewater. The bayfront hotels sit where Port Boulevard leaves Biscayne Boulevard, Brickell is a short ride south across the Miami River, and the airport hotels are about 7 to 10 miles west.

How the port actually connects to the city

PortMiami, officially the Dante B. Fascell Port of Miami, sits on Dodge Island in Biscayne Bay, east of downtown. There are only two ways onto the island, and knowing them makes every hotel choice easier. Port Boulevard crosses a bridge from Biscayne Boulevard at the NE 5th and 6th Street couplet, right beside Bayside Marketplace. The toll-free PortMiami Tunnel comes in from Watson Island on the MacArthur Causeway, which is how traffic from I-395 and the airport usually arrives.

Miami-Dade County assigns terminals by cruise line:

  • Terminal AA: MSC Cruises
  • Terminal A: Royal Caribbean International
  • Terminal B: Norwegian Cruise Line
  • Terminal C: several cruise lines
  • Terminals D, E and F: Carnival Cruise Line
  • Terminal V: Virgin Voyages
  • Terminal J: smaller ships and luxury lines

Royal Caribbean’s new Terminal G is under construction on the west end of the port, with completion planned for late 2027.

For hotel planning, this means a “near the port” hotel is really a hotel near the Port Boulevard bridge or near I-395. Brickell feeds into Biscayne Boulevard from the south, Edgewater comes down Biscayne from the north, and the airport hotels come in on the expressways. I’d look at the terminal on your cruise documents before deciding a hotel is close, because the terminals spread along the island and the drop-off lanes are shared on busy mornings. On sailing day, the terminal letter also decides your entrance. For currently operating terminals, PortMiami’s published arrival guidance directs passengers for Terminals AA, A, B, C and D to the PortMiami Tunnel and passengers for Terminals E, F, J and V to the PortMiami Bridge on Port Boulevard. Don’t rely on the cruise line’s name alone: Carnival sailings can use Terminal D, E or F. I’d find the terminal letter on your cruise documents and give it to your driver. From a downtown bayfront hotel, the bridge looks closer on the map, but your terminal’s assigned entrance comes first. For a tunnel terminal, your route may take you north toward I-395 before you reach the port. Then check your cruise line’s latest arrival instructions before you leave.

Downtown bayfront: the shortest ride

If the goal is the least possible distance between your bed and the gangway, I’d stay here. These hotels sit on or just off Biscayne Boulevard, with Bayfront Park and Bayside Marketplace on the water side. The visitors bureau describes the YVE as a 5 to 10 minute ride to the port and the InterContinental as about 10 minutes, and those ranges match how short the bridge approach is when traffic is light.

The Elser Hotel

The Elser Hotel is at 398 NE 5th Street, and NE 5th is one half of the street pair that turns into Port Boulevard. The visitors bureau notes you can upgrade for a view of your cruise ship, and the hotel’s suites have full kitchens and in-suite washers and dryers. That last part is the reason I’d book it after a cruise rather than before: you can run a load of laundry before flying home. It doesn’t list a cruise shuttle, so plan on a short rideshare.

YVE Hotel Miami

YVE Hotel Miami is at 146 Biscayne Boulevard, facing Bayfront Park a few blocks south of the Port Boulevard turnoff. The hotel lists a “Transfer to Port of Miami” offer, a “Park & Stay” package, and a breakfast-for-two offer at Celia’s Kitchen and Social Bar. The visitors bureau describes the port transfer as a shared third-party shuttle at $8 to $12 per person. For a couple, that’s close to a rideshare fare, so I’d only lean on the shuttle if you’d rather not deal with apps on sailing morning.

InterContinental Miami

InterContinental Miami is at 100 Chopin Plaza, at the south end of Bayfront Park, and IHG lists it 0.89 mile from the port. Its Stay and Cruise package covers the overnight stay and breakfast for two, but the hotel says transfers are not included; the concierge can help arrange one. I’d pick it when the night before the cruise is part of the trip, not just a place to sleep.

Check before you trust an older list: Many guides still send cruisers to the Holiday Inn Port of Miami-Downtown at 340 Biscayne Boulevard. It is now listed as closed after the site was sold for redevelopment, and IHG’s own list of hotels near the port no longer includes it, so don’t plan around it. Book an operating hotel from this list and confirm your rate directly.

Edgewater: bay views and a ride voucher

Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay is at 1633 N Bayshore Drive, north of downtown in Edgewater. Marriott describes 360-degree views where you can spot your ship at the port, and its Pre and Post Cruise package (promo code TRS, stays through January 31, 2027) adds a $30 Uber voucher and breakfast for two daily. The hotel’s site also mentions a “short stroll” to the port, and I’d ignore that with luggage: you’d be walking south along the bay to Port Boulevard and then across the bridge. Parking is the trade-off here. Marriott lists self-parking at $45 a day and valet at $50, which is more than the port’s own garages charge for a cruise, so I’d only park here if you’re staying a night after the cruise as well.

Brickell: more dinner choices, a slightly longer ride

Brickell sits south of the Miami River and works best when you want a real evening before the cruise: more restaurants within walking distance, the Brickell Metrorail station, and the free City of Miami Trolley. The ride to the port is still short, crossing the river and running up Biscayne Boulevard to the bridge, but it’s a few more lights than from the bayfront.

Comfort Inn & Suites Downtown Brickell-Port of Miami

This one is at 100 SE 4th Street, on the Miami River at the downtown edge of Brickell. Choice Hotels lists free hot breakfast and a one-way shuttle to the Port of Miami for $12 per person, with registration at check-in. The catch is parking: the hotel says paid valet parking is required. I’d book it if you’re arriving without a car and want breakfast and a set ride in the morning.

Hampton Inn & Suites Miami/Brickell-Downtown

At 50 SW 12th Street, the Hampton includes free hot breakfast and lists self-parking at $39 a day. The visitors bureau describes a port shuttle that costs around $8 per person and runs about three times a day. With only a few departures, I’d ask the front desk for the times at check-in and pick the run that fits your terminal’s arrival window.

Aloft Miami Brickell

Aloft Miami Brickell is at 1001 SW 2nd Avenue, close to the Brickell Metrorail station. Its “Stay Tonight, Cruise Tomorrow” package, for stays through December 1, 2026, includes a King Balcony Room upgrade, two complimentary shuttle vouchers to the port with pickups at 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., and a $20 breakfast credit for two per day (promo code ES7). Parking is off-site valet at $40 a day. For two people without a car, this is one of the cleaner packages in this group because the ride and a breakfast credit are already in the price.

If you land early and have an afternoon to fill, Brickell is also the easiest base for a few hours on Calle Ocho in Little Havana, a short ride west.

Airport hotels: where the shuttles and breakfasts are

The airport hotels in and around Miami Springs make the most sense if you fly in the day before, don’t want a rental car, and care more about breakfast and a set morning ride than about the neighborhood. The trade-off is distance. The port is about 7 to 10 miles away, depending on the hotel, usually by the Dolphin Expressway (SR 836) to I-395, then the tunnel or the bridge depending on your terminal, and I’d plan on 20 to 35 minutes in light traffic and longer at rush hour.

Comfort Suites Miami Airport North

This is the hotel that answers the “free shuttle and breakfast” search. Comfort Suites Miami Airport North, at 657 Minola Drive in Miami Springs, lists a complimentary one-way shuttle to the Port of Miami each morning. You register at the front desk during check-in, seats are first come, first served, and the hotel says the shuttle isn’t guaranteed once it’s full. It also includes free hot breakfast, a free airport shuttle from 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and extended parking at $12 a night. Choice also lists a $2 nightly in-room safe fee on every reservation. The return trip from the port costs $15 per person and is arranged with a third-party coordinator on the day you check out. I’d register the minute you check in and keep a rideshare app ready in case the van is full.

Clarion Inn & Suites Miami International Airport

This is the cautionary one. The address, 5301 NW 36th Street in Miami Springs, still shows up in older lists as a hotel with a free port shuttle and free breakfast. The current Choice Hotels page says the hotel no longer provides free breakfast, the shuttle to the Port of Miami costs $12, parking is $12 a day, and a $3.50 per room, per night fee covers transportation, security and the in-room safe. It still runs a free hourly shuttle from the airport from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. It can still work for a night near the airport, as long as you book it knowing the current terms.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Miami International Airport

At 3974 NW South River Drive, Embassy Suites has the strongest breakfast of the airport group: free made-to-order breakfast plus a complimentary evening reception. Hilton lists a free airport shuttle every 30 minutes and self-parking at $30 a day, but no cruise shuttle. I’d choose it for a family that wants a suite and a real breakfast, then take a rideshare or taxi to the port.

Parking: hotel lot or port garage?

Miami-Dade County lists long-term cruise parking at $28 a day in Garages C, D, F and G and Surface Lot E, which serve Terminals C, D, E, F and V. Garage AA for MSC and Garage B for Norwegian are $35 a day. Royal Caribbean’s Garage A posts its rates and reservations on a separate booking page. The county accepts cash and Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover at the garages, but not debit cards.

For a seven-night cruise, that’s $196 at $28 a day or $245 at $35, before any extras. Comfort Suites Miami Airport North lists extended parking at $12 a night, which works out to an $84 parking subtotal for seven nights, before the $2 nightly safe fee on your room and the $15 per person ride back, so it pays off best for a car arriving with one or two people. I’d confirm with the hotel that extended parking covers every cruise night before you rely on it. Downtown, the math rarely works: Marriott Biscayne Bay’s $45 self-parking is more than the port garage, so if you’re driving to a bayfront hotel, I’d move the car to the port garage on sailing morning.

Getting to the port without a hotel shuttle

  • Rideshare and taxi: The county’s directions and transportation page says all major rideshare services drop off and pick up at designated zones, and taxis wait at the terminals on cruise days. From MIA, taxis run on the meter: the airport lists $2.95 for the first sixth of a mile, a $2 airport fee, and a $15 minimum.
  • Free trolley: The City of Miami’s Coral Way Trolley connects Brickell with PortMiami and stops at Bayfront Park and Bayside. It runs Monday to Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The city relocated some port stops on August 1, 2025 for construction, so check the trolley tracker for the current stop.
  • Post-cruise airport transfers: This one is for the end of the trip, not the hotel night before. PortMiami’s October 2026 traffic update, as reported by the American Journal of Transportation, describes a pilot of complimentary transfers to Miami International Airport for Carnival Celebration passengers on select dates, and Royal Caribbean Group’s complimentary airport shuttle program for Icon of the Seas passengers also continues on select dates. Both are sailing-specific, so I’d confirm eligibility, the pickup point, and your date with the cruise line before skipping a paid ride.
  • Metrorail from the airport: The county suggests the Orange Line from Miami International Airport to Government Center, Metromover to Freedom Tower, and then the free trolley across the port bridge. It works for light packers, but I wouldn’t try it with big suitcases on sailing day.
  • Walking: The county says you can walk across the north side of the PortMiami Bridge. From the bayfront hotels that’s realistic with a carry-on, less so with checked bags, because the terminals are spread along the island beyond the bridge.
  • Brightline: If you’re coming by train from Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach or Orlando, Brightline arrives at MiamiCentral Station, but don’t assume a port transfer. PortMiami’s directions page mentions a Brightline “Vacation Service” for cruise passengers, while Brightline’s own support page says it does not offer transportation to or from the Port of Miami. I’d plan on a rideshare from MiamiCentral and confirm with Brightline before counting on anything else.

How I’d plan the night before

I’d always fly in the day before. The morning of a cruise is a bad time to discover a delayed flight. If you arrive late and want breakfast and a set ride, take the airport hotel: eat, catch the morning shuttle or a rideshare, and you’re at the terminal without having touched downtown traffic. If you arrive in the afternoon and want dinner out, stay in Brickell or on the bayfront, walk to dinner, and take a 10-minute ride to your terminal the next morning.

On sailing morning, I’d follow the arrival time on your cruise documents rather than heading over as early as possible. Most lines now assign arrival windows, and the approach roads are shared on busy days. After the cruise, ships usually dock early in the morning, and I wouldn’t book a flight home that leaves before midday. A post-cruise night at the bayfront is an easy way to avoid that rush, especially at a place with a washer and dryer.

Which cluster fits your trip

  • Downtown bayfront: Strongest for the shortest ride and an evening by the water. Less convenient for cheap parking or included breakfast. Getting to the port: short rideshare or the YVE’s paid shuttle.
  • Edgewater: Strongest for watching ships from your room and for a ride voucher and breakfast package. Less convenient for parking costs. Getting to the port: a few minutes down Biscayne Boulevard.
  • Brickell: Strongest for dinner choices, transit, and packages that bundle the shuttle. Less convenient if you’re driving, since parking runs $39 to $40 a day. Getting to the port: paid hotel shuttle, voucher, or a short ride.
  • Airport cluster: Strongest for late arrivals, free breakfast, and the only free morning port shuttle listed among these hotels. Less convenient for anything to do nearby at night. Getting to the port: about 7 to 10 miles, 20 to 35 minutes in light traffic.

Frequently asked questions

Which hotels are closest to the Miami cruise port?

The closest hotels are on the downtown bayfront: The Elser Hotel on NE 5th Street, which feeds Port Boulevard; YVE Hotel Miami on Biscayne Boulevard facing Bayfront Park; and InterContinental Miami, which IHG lists 0.89 mile from the port. From all three, the ride is short when traffic is light.

Which hotels near the Miami cruise port have a free shuttle?

Comfort Suites Miami Airport North in Miami Springs lists a complimentary one-way shuttle to the port each morning. Guests register at check-in, seats are first come, first served, and the ride back costs $15 per person. Most other port shuttles are paid, such as $12 per person at Comfort Inn & Suites Downtown Brickell-Port of Miami and a $12 shuttle fee at Clarion Inn & Suites Miami International Airport, or come inside packages like Aloft Miami Brickell’s two shuttle vouchers.

Which Miami cruise hotels include free breakfast?

Comfort Suites Miami Airport North, Comfort Inn & Suites Downtown Brickell-Port of Miami, and Hampton Inn & Suites Miami/Brickell-Downtown include free hot breakfast, and Embassy Suites by Hilton Miami International Airport includes free made-to-order breakfast. InterContinental Miami, Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay, and YVE Hotel Miami offer breakfast for two in packages, and Aloft Miami Brickell’s package includes a $20 breakfast credit for two per day. Clarion Inn & Suites Miami International Airport no longer includes free breakfast.

Can you walk to the Miami cruise port from a hotel?

The county says you can walk across the north side of the PortMiami Bridge, so it’s possible from the downtown bayfront hotels with light bags. The terminals are spread along Dodge Island beyond the bridge, so with checked luggage a short rideshare is easier.

How much is parking at the Miami cruise port?

Miami-Dade County lists $28 a day for long-term parking at Garages C, D, F and G and Surface Lot E, and $35 a day at Garage AA for MSC and Garage B for Norwegian. Royal Caribbean’s Garage A posts rates on a separate booking page. The garages take cash and major credit cards, but not debit cards.

Is it cheaper to park at a hotel for a Miami cruise?

Sometimes. Comfort Suites Miami Airport North lists extended parking at $12 a night, compared with $28 to $35 a day at the port, but you’d add its $2 nightly safe fee and the $15 per person ride back from the port. Downtown hotels usually charge more than the port garages, such as $45 a day for self-parking at Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay.

How far is Miami International Airport from the cruise port?

Miami International Airport is roughly 7 to 10 miles from PortMiami by road, depending on the route, usually by the Dolphin Expressway (SR 836) and I-395. Allow about 20 to 35 minutes in light traffic and more at rush hour. If you’re staying at an airport hotel, check the route from that hotel, and use the tunnel or bridge entrance your terminal calls for.

Should I use the PortMiami Tunnel or the bridge?

It depends on your terminal, not your cruise line. PortMiami’s arrival guidance directs passengers for Terminals AA, A, B, C and D to the PortMiami Tunnel and passengers for Terminals E, F, J and V to the PortMiami Bridge on Port Boulevard. Check the terminal letter on your cruise documents and your cruise line’s latest arrival instructions before you leave.

Is there public transportation to PortMiami?

Yes. The free City of Miami Coral Way Trolley serves PortMiami and runs Monday to Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with some port stops relocated since August 1, 2025 for construction. From the airport, the county suggests Metrorail’s Orange Line to Government Center, Metromover to Freedom Tower, and then the trolley.

Which terminal does my cruise line use at PortMiami?

MSC uses Terminal AA, Royal Caribbean uses Terminal A, Norwegian uses Terminal B, Carnival uses Terminals D, E and F, and Virgin Voyages uses Terminal V. Terminal C serves several cruise lines, and Terminal J handles smaller ships and luxury lines. Royal Caribbean’s new Terminal G is under construction, with completion planned for late 2027.
